A hot toddy on a cold night


I’m a firm believer in the curative powers of a good hot toddy when I’m chilled to the bone, or starting to come down with a cold. And on this snowy April evening, it’s just what the doctor ordered.

There are a lot of different recipes out there, and if you ask me, there’s no wrong way to make a hot toddy. But here’s how I do it:

Hot Toddy

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Yield: 1 serving

Hot Toddy

The perfect way to warm your bones on a cold night.


  • 1 black tea bag
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/4 fresh lemon
  • 1 shot of your favorite bourbon whiskey


  1. Brew tea with ~6 oz. of boiling water in a heatsafe mug.
  2. Add honey and stir until dissolved.
  3. Add lemon and cinnamon stick.
  4. Add bourbon and stir.
  5. Drink up!
